Representing members engaged in the international meat trade

How IMTA Can Help Your Business

IMTA Representation

IMTA represents predominantly UK-based businesses engaged in the import/export of meat. Our membership contains businesses of all sizes, from SMEs up to the UK offices of large multinational companies.

Representing our members' views to policymakers is at the heart of what we do. As well as providing information; we rely on a dialogue with members to enable us to accurately and effectively represent meat traders and those in the wider sector.

IMTA meets regularly with various government departments including Defra, Cabinet Office, Department of Business and Trade, the Food Standards Agency, and others.  Our goal is the facilitation of the trade in meat ensuring UK consumer choice, food security and carcase balance through import and export.

IMTA provides leading trade expertise on UK trade policy including on customs, tariffs, quotas, rules of origin, WTO, trade agreements, SPS conditions and market access.
