The IMTA Team

After joining IMTA in 2012 Katie Doherty became CEO in April 2019. She is responsible for leading the association and setting policy direction. She leads on policy areas including customs, veterinary import controls, Tariff Rate Quotas and also leads on UECBV engagement.

Katie holds a Diploma in World Customs Compliance and Regulations with The Chartered Institute of Export (CIoE) for which she received a distinction. She received the Strong & Herd award for highest overall mark for the course as well as the award for Outstanding Achievement at the CIoE graduation in 2019.  Katie is a graduate from The London School of Economics (LSE) with a BA International History. 

Katie won the 2023 Women in Meat award in the Trade Organisation category, in 2023 was recognised in the top 100 most influential women in the inaugural Trade Association Forum 'Women in Trade Associations Power list' and in 2024 won the Meat Management 'Excellence Award'.

 

Katrina Walsh has been working in interest representation for the meat sector since 2014, in both Brussels and London. She has completed an MSc in Food Regulatory Affairs, building on her academic background in European politics. As Strategy Director she leads on member engagement, while also leading on policy areas including the SPS Agreement with the EU, Rules of Origin and Ports and Shipping. Katrina has a particular interest in international trade and speaks French, Spanish and Danish. In 2022 she took a career break, spent travelling in South and Central America. The culture, nature, landscape and cuisine of this region have left a lasting impression.

Will Allen joined IMTA in 2021 and is currently Policy Manager, leading on export market access and sustainability. Will has an MA in International Relations from the University of Warwick, and since joining IMTA completed an online course on evidence in policymaking with the University of Oxford’s Blavatnik School of Government. Will enjoys cooking, sports and spending time in the countryside.

Having joined IMTA in March 2024, Matthew provides research and industry-engagement assistance in IMTA’s policy areas. He supports work on Customs, Free Trade Agreements & Deals, Food Safety and Sustainability, amongst others. In November 2024, he achieved the British Chambers of Commerce Foundation Award in International Trade. In an operational capacity, Matthew liaises with external partners for organising events and visits, as well as providing office administrative support.

Matthew has a BSc in Geography from the University of Bristol and an MSc in International Relations of the Americas from UCL. He is interested in global politics, international trade and diplomacy. He is a hockey player, gym-goer and enjoys cooking.

Lamyah has recently completed her MA in Anthropology of Global Futures and Sustainability at SOAS University of London following a BA in Environmental Geography at the University of Toronto. She carries special interest in food sovereignty and sustainable food systems under climate change. At IMTA, she continues to learn about the complexities of global food systems by witnessing and assisting with the functions of meat trade.

Lamyah is the key point of contact for membership matters, supports policy work on labelling and ethical trading, and maintains internal operations at IMTA.
